Welcome to GARD RHODANIEN
Starting from BAGNOLS-SUR-CEZE, our city, nestling on the bank of the CEZE River, which flows into the Rhone at l’Ardoise, let’s discover our native region, a crossroads between Languedoc and Provence, at the heart of the famous touristic and cultural sites of these provinces: Avignon, Orange, Uzès, the “Pont du Gard”, Nîmes, the Cévennes mountains, several natural grottoes and caves.
In the 50s BAGNOLS was a market town of about 4,500 inhabitants, living off agriculture (grapes, fruit-trees, beans…) Its tremendous economic development is due to the setting up of big industrial facilities, including the Marcoule nuclear complex, the Ugine steel factory, and Owens-Corning Fiberglas at l’Ardoise…
The present population is about 18,000. Even if the industrial activity is now decreasing, new technological opportunities, like the “TRIMATEC business park”, can bring about fresh development.
In the area you will discover many historical remains : Oppida, Roman baths, Romanesque churches, castles, washhouses, witnesses of the past enhancing our picturesque villages. More over Bagnols offers a great diversity of cultural events…
